Frozen Hands – The Montreal Gazette Jan 23, 1888
The police arrested a man named John Shelly on Saturday night, who was found in an intoxicated condition sleeping on St. Catherine street. As his hands were frozen, they conveyed him to the General hospital, where his hands were thawed by the house surgeon. He was afterwards taken to the police cells.
