Cigar man saves the day

He Stopped the Horse – The Montreal Gazette May 29, 1891

At 4:30 p.m. yesterday, as Mr. J.E. Monette, the well known cigar manufacturer, of Notre Dame street, was standing in front of his store he observed a buggy, containing two little ones, proceeding down the street at more than an ordinary gait. Taking the situation at a glance, he, at no little personal danger, made a spring, and after catching the reins was dragged some fifty feet. He, however, stopped the horse and saved, perhaps, the lives of the two children.
