April Fools' survival guide
The First of April – The Montreal Gazette Apr. 1, 1878
Beware of sells Take care how you open express pagages and receive invitations; do not kick any heavy hats that may be found upon the footpaths – it might lead to hard feeling; beware of well stuffed pocketbooks that you may find lying about loose; if a man tells you there is a plackard on your back don’t believe him, but walk on; if you receive a telegram announcing the death a rich uncle, treat the matter with caution.
Ed’s note: The Gazette's editors must have had a chuckle writing this up -- almost every sentence has a typo.
