Blessings for handsome Longueuil church

The new Longueuil church – The Montreal Daily Herald Jan 29, 1887

The new Roman Catholic church at Longueuil was blessed by the Archbishop yesterday, the service being most impressive and attended by a large congregation. The style and plan of the church which Messrs. Perault and Menard are the contractors, is handsome, the seating arrangement especially being worth of mention for their convenience. The cost of the edifice is in vicinity of $150,000, it being the largest church in the province outside of those in this city. His Lordship opened a bazaar in the afternoon, the proceeds of which are to go towards defraying the cost of the building.

(Ed’s note: The church in question is the Co-Cathedral of Saint-Antoine-de-Padoue. Construction was finally completed in 1911. It still stands to this day.)
