The Post Office Doors Nuisance Abated – The Montreal Daily Witness Jan 13, 1887

Great and just complaints have been made of the inconvenience caused by there being so ridiculously many doors to pass through before access could be obtained to the Post Office. From morning to night the continued noise from the slamming of these doors has sounded like a discharge of artillery, heard at no great distance. Two superfluous doors, from amongst the half dozen thunderers, have been removed, much to the comfort of many both within and without the Office.
